When you send a book to the Kindle through Calibre using a cable connection you completely loose book synchronization with your Amazon account, thus leading to loosing synchronization of the book across all your devices. This only applies to the Send to Kindle service and the mobile apps - Kindle devices will not support the Epub format. The Kindle app for Android and iOS will also gain Epub support. When sending an Epub file through Send to Kindle, the service will convert it to a format supported by the Kindle. Send to Kindle will no longer be supporting Mobi files, but will start to accept Epub files instead.
